Andrew Jan 2016 BAndrew Brooke obtained his Bachelor of Technology degree in Graphic Communications Management from Ryerson Polytechnical Institute in Toronto in 1988. He worked several years in the printing industry as a production coordinator, managing the various stages of print and graphic arts production.

Andrew began his IT career in 1991, managing databases, processing financial information, and offering general computer support at a non-profit organization.

In 1996, Andrew became a technical support analyst at Symantec where he provided phone and newsgroup support for WinFax. He contributed extensively to the library of support solution documents and managed an online support tool.

In 1998, Andrew began working as a technical writer at i2 Technologies, a transportation management software company. In 2003, he moved to InSystems, which was later acquired by Oracle. For nearly a decade, he managed complex software documentation projects for the insurance industry and was involved in product testing.

From 2011 to 2013, he served as President of the Toronto Chapter of the Society for Technical Communication (STC Toronto). Previously, he held various board positions including the Job Bank Manager and Membership Manager. From 2014 to 2017, he was the chapter’s Treasurer, managing the chapter’s finances.

From 2019 to 2021, he was a Project Coordinator and Executive Assistant for UJA Federation of Greater Toronto’s Tomorrow Campaign, a $350 million capital development project. In this dynamic role, he performed a wide variety of administrative, financial, database management, donor stewardship and documentation tasks. In 2021, he joined BDGM Group in Toronto as a Project Coordinator.

Andrew lives in Thornhill, Ontario. His interests include technology, science, philosophy, and mathematics, and writing about these topics.
